Intuitive & Immersive Teleoperations

Teleoperations alleviate the burden on astronauts while enhancing their safety. By facilitating intuitive and immersive remote control of equipment, such as rovers, astronauts can safely explore distant areas, perform hazardous tasks, and engage in search and rescue missions.

We integrate technology with psychological research to create the most user-friendly teleoperation system available!

Our Story

Objective

The HUMANISE project aims to build a full end to end teleoperations system and conduct a comparative study using different controllers to assess stress levels of remote operators in extreme environments.

Controllers

Intuitive teleoperation systems leverage brain-computer interaction (BCI), virtual reality (VR), and haptic gamepad controllers to enhance user experience and control.
These technologies together create a seamless and natural interface for users, making complex tasks more manageable and intuitive.

AR/VR in teleoperations offers several advantages for reducing operator stress. It enhances immersion and situational awareness, allowing operators to engage more intuitively with robotic systems, which can lead to decreased mental fatigue and improved focus during tasks.

Brain-computer interaction (BCI) for teleoperation focuses on translating immediate brain responses and unconscious decisions into actionable commands. By integrating eye tracking, BCIs can initiate low-level tasks, such as picking up objects or controlling a rover, enabling users to interact with devices intuitively and efficiently.

Haptic feedback from gamepad controllers significantly enhances teleoperations by simulating touch and providing tactile sensations that improve the sense of presence. This technology fosters familiarity for users, making interactions more intuitive compared to other controllers, ultimately leading to a more immersive and effective operational experience.
